Mobisol Tanzania Supports Public Healthcare

In a quest to support the public health sector, Mobisol Tanzania has donated a new 200Wp solar system, hospital supplies and sanitary items to Mount Meru Hospital. At the same time, the team has toured the casualties’ ward and donated blood to benefit the patients in the facility.

Mount Meru Hospital is a government-run public institution with a care capacity of over 450 beds. It is a Referral Hospital serving the Arusha region including 18 smaller district hospitals scattered all over the region. The Mobisol solar system was donated to the maternity wing and included a 200Wp PV panel, long life battery and the Mobisol solar controller.

Additionally, Mobisol solar technicians installed 20 ultra-efficient LED lamps to illuminate the premises. The solar electrification of the maternity wing not only reduces their electricity bill and frees up funds for much-needed medical supplies; the power system also allows for business as usual during frequent electricity outages experienced. Therefore, women in labour are now able to give birth and midwifes can work uninterrupted – under bright efficient light.

In addition to the solar system, Mobisol has donated much-needed hospital supplies such as dustbins and slashers, as well as sanitary items for patients such as tissues, toothpaste, soaps, jelly etc. The Mobisol team was led through a tour of the casualties’ ward and subsequently, over 30 team members donated blood for the facility.

The support initiative for the hospital is part of Mobisol Tanzania’s larger vision to join hands with the Government and private stakeholders to not only sustainably electrify rural communities, but to simultaneously empower them to improve social services such as health care and education throughout the country.
